Introducing...Kellie's Corner!

Happy Friday everyone!

I’m Kellie and I work in the Customer Service department here along with my friend Sylvia. Together, we can wreak some havoc but generally we are too busy on the phones to get crazy! Not only do I help troubleshoot over the phone, I also have the chance to chat with the drivers who are testing out the ClimaCab system. Let me tell you, I never cease to be amused! Sometimes I find myself on the phone for an hour. I love the fact that most of these guys and gals are so sweet but they have no filter! One of my favorite drivers, Jerry from Utah, is a crack up. Every time I get him on the phone he makes me laugh.

The best thing about the ClimaCab customer service team is just that- we are a great team. The field service techs are so helpful when things get crazy. Anywhere you have people willing to be on call 24/7 to help someone out is a good place to be. We have a great group of people out here in California!

About once a week I’ll post on our blog (which was created by our excellent marketing team) and give updates and share fun stories. Who knows, maybe we’ll even hold a contest for you guys!

As a note- we all know summer is just around the corner. Here are a few tips to make sure your system keeps you comfortable in the hot heat.

1. Look over your battery connections. Winter weather may have corroded your battery cables. Also, top off your batteries to ensure maximum performance.
2. Since many of you will be using your air conditioning for the first time in a few months, take the time to check your refrigerant level. It should be at 2.75lbs.
3. Take a look at all connections and harnesses to see if any are damaged. Visually check the condenser to make sure the inlet and exhaust port grates are not blocked. Also check your evaporator filter to make sure there is no debris blocking airflow.

Try these steps to make sure you are nice and cool in your cab this summer. As always, feel free to contact customer support if you have questions.

Week 5 - Tularosa, NM

A long 2-hr drive from El Paso, but we go for the love of the race.

Not a very good turnout tonight. Only 10 cars total showed up. Everyone else missed out because it was a nice night – no wind or rain for a change. We drew dollar bills with numbers on them to see where we started. Guess what I got? #10 of course, which put me dead last in the first heat.

As I pulled onto the track, I could see there were wet spots. I reminded myself to take it slow at first, and then go hard. The green flag waved and we went into turn one. I go high then low and, suddenly—wow!—I'm in 3^rd!! When I look over, I see that the guy next to me is my old buddy, Dave Snyder (a ClimaCab installer). All of a sudden, he spins out right in front of me, and I hit the brakes HARD. He’s so close I can his eyes, and they’re closed. I only miss him by inches and can feel my heart thumping in my chest. The yellow flag comes out now, and I am in 5^th because I went off the track to miss Dave (thanks, Dave!!). The green flag is flying, and I pass one car then two cars. All of a sudden, the race is over. I finished in 2^nd.

The next race, they have us line right back up but in inverted positions. That put me on the pole. The green flag flies, and off I go and never look back! No yellow flags come up during this race, and I end up finishing in 1^st place.

So now the racing officials base car position on the past two heat races and how you finished in them. That put me on the pole—YES! “I got this in the bag,” I say to Dave and my wife, “Just sit back and watch.”

The green flag comes up; I take off and go into the first turn. It’s not too bad, but my car will not turn in the middle of the corners. This is bad. But I hold off everyone behind me for more than half the race. When I go into turn 3, all of a sudden it’s lights out. Now, when I say ‘lights out’ I mean the lights to the whole place went out—OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can’t stop but we can’t go faster ether. Everyone makes it out okay and we sit for 20 minutes waiting for them to fix the lights. Before long, we are back on the track and ready to race. Off we go again! I roll around real smooth, but with 5 laps left I go into turn 1 a little too hard and up the hill I go. Before I know it, Don ‘the Bandito’ Reynolds passes me, leaving me in 2^nd place. We go around for a few more laps coming for the white flag and a lap car is in my way. It’s my buddy, Landis Hartraft, so I just get behind him and pass him as fast as I can and hit the brakes before the corner. I end up going under him and coming home in 2^nd. We had a really good run, but I really am tired of 2^nd place finishes. We will get a 1^st place win again soon!

So far, I am 1^st place in Tularosa 2^nd in El Paso, and 2^nd in Las Cruces. But I am also 1^st in the Nation for INEX points and 1^st for our tracks series points. I must admit, I’m really happy with that.

We race again this Friday in El Paso.

Week 4 - Las Cruces, NM

Friday night
I started in 3rd row outside in my heat race. I took off and started working my way to the front. I was in 3rd when the leader spun out. I had to go high to avoid hitting him and ended up off the track. I got back on but could not run the leader down, so I finished 2nd in my heat.

In the main event, I started out 4th row outside again. We took off, and I worked myself to 4th. We had a yellow flag and then when we stated again, I got to 3rd place and eventually to 2nd. By the time I got in 2nd, the leader was half a straightaway ahead. He ended up winning. But, he had some advantages as he is also is the national champ and started on the pole.

Saturday night
I started on the outside pole in my heat. I took off flyin’ into the first corner when suddenly – wow, wow!! I flew off the track!! I guess I took the turn a little too fast! I got back on the track in last place, but managed to come back strong and finish the heat in 3rd place.

In the main event, I started in the 3rd row inside. I took off and got to 3rd, then to 2nd. I needed a yellow to advance, but that didn’t happen so I ended up finishing in 2nd place. Not too bad. This weekend we will go to Tularosa, NM – and we will be on kill mode.

Week 2 - Tularosa, NM

The start of the season began in Tularosa, NM this week. I drew # 7 pill, which put me on the pole for the 10-lap heat race. I took off and lead the whole race, finishing 1st!!! With that win I was placed on the pole for the main event—a 20-lap race. I took off and lead the race almost the whole way. But then, with just 8 laps to go, I got spun out by the second place car. Oh no!! A yellow flag went down and I was able to get my first place position back. The other guy got sent to the rear. I took off again and lead the rest of the race bringing home the victory for ClimaCab!! We are off to a great start, guys! Hope it continues!

Week 1 - El Paso, TX

We started our racing season last Friday. It went really well. I won my heat race, even though I started in the outside pole position. In the dash, I got 2^nd place. In the main race, I finished 1^st! The car is running great. My son, Tristan (who is only 11 years old, by the way), placed 14^th in his first race. Way to go, Tristan!!
